Cyber Security Blog Post - Ed Tech 10/22/14

  • One thing I found to be extremely useful for my future classroom would be the fact that the websites both reiterated online safety.
  • Two of the main things I really enjoyed were rules that I plan to put up on a poster above the computers in my classroom. 1) Post only what you would feel comfortable with the whole world seeing, including parents or college admissions personnel. 2) Never use the Internet to spread gossip, bully or hurt someone’s reputation.
  • I think these are a lot of the issue in middle school and high school today. Kids find such humor in hurting other's, especially when they can hide behind a computer screen. Bullying has been made so easy in this generation because of the Internet, and it most definitely comes into play into the classroom. As educators, we're not going to be successful in teaching anything if there is some type of bullying issue going on online.
  • Online safety is vital when working with children of any age, especially the older ones who have more access to it. I will definitely be using these points in my future classroom to ensure that the Internet is being used for educational purposes only.

Ed Tech (Professional Learning Goals)

My name is Amanda Johnson. My three professional learning goals consist of the following:

  • Being able to effectively teach English, literature, and grammar to my middle school students in a fun, interactive way.
  • Being a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on for my students in the inner city.
  • Being the absolute best educator that I can possibly be, and help every student that I possibly can along the way.
